(b. 1972, Kuala Lumpur) comes from a 15 year background in advertising, with a trail of international awards like 'The New York Festivals', 'Times-Asia Pacific', 'London Advertising Awards' and a 'Cannes' finalist for television. Marvin's move from brand building to building images on canvas is quintessentially a change to doing what he is truly passionate about. Being relatively new to the scene, Marvin actively takes part in exhibitions and competitions locally and abroad. He is a finalist in Arteingenua, Italy and selected as an alternate for the Vermont Freeman Fellowship in 2008 and 2009. Influenced by the classic realists in his earlier works, Marvin continues to explore contemporary themes that surround the idea of existence, structures and forms in his figurative paintings.

Painting is his process of making an experience either in an emotion or a story. By placing images together and reworking them to assemble observations and thoughts on the canvas. Marvin Chan hails from an advertising background but has spent the last three years working as a full time artist. It was after having won numerous awards in his role as artistic director at a leading advertising company, that he decided to devote his time entirely to pursuing his career as an artist. Marvin’s works are poignant and dark, yet retain a romanticism and beauty about them as they capture the emotions and characteristics of the children they portray
